This landmark event is one of the first major conferences dedicated entirely to the Cree language in our region, bringing together speakers, learners, educators, and elders from across the country. Our goal is to strengthen the use of Nehiyawewin (the Cree language), build community connections, and inspire future generations to carry our language proudly into the future.
Conference Overview
Over three days, attendees will experience a blend of language learning, cultural exchange, and networking. Highlights include:
● Opening Ceremonies – Honoring our elders, knowledge keepers, and ancestors who have carried our language through generations.
● Workshops – Led by 5 Cree facilitators, these interactive sessions focus on utilizing and revitalizing the Cree language at home, school, and workplace, through storytelling, and daily language use.
● Keynote Speakers – Inspiring talks from respected Cree leaders and educators.
Cultural Marketplace – 30 Indigenous craft vendors showcasing authentic handmade goods and art.
● Networking Dinner & Entertainment – A Saturday evening celebration featuring live music, performances, and door prizes.
● Closing Ceremonies – Reflecting on what we’ve learned and how to carry it forward.
